Like the silver bullet for the warewolf, we as evangelists are looking for the silver bullet to bring down the moster of false religions like Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses one step at a time. For years I have been searching for the silver bullet to help young missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) find Christ so that when presented, they would come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil having been taken captive to do his will (2 Timothy 2:26).
For a long time I really believed that the silver bullet was a myth. But the thing is that there IS a silver bullet, and it was right under my nose the whole time. It was, and is, God's word, the Holy Bible.
God's word is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, seperating even the soul and spirit...(Hebrews 4:12).
We are to share the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
So I thought about this for a minute, what do the Mormons (LDS), and the JW's have in common, they are swayed in not reading God's word for themselves, if at all. When talking with their missionaries, what do they want to teach you? It's usually pamphlets, books, or even "another gospel" like the Book of Mormon. It's never The Holy Bible. Even when I was a Roman Catholic, I was told not to bother reading God's word, and when I did start reading it, I started to compare it to the Roman Catholic Catechism, and realized I could either be a Catholic, or a Christian, but not both. When trying to reach Mormons, JW's, or anyone for that matter, do yourself a favor and leave them with this...challenge them to read the bible like a child. To read it with an open mind, with no preconcieved ideas, and read it for what it is. God's word changes people. It changed me, my wife, and so many others. God bless.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but Mormons do read and study the Bible on a regular basis.
In fact, a recent survey found that Mormons know the Bible better, on average, than evangelical Christians.
In my experience as a Mormon, a "silver bullet" from an evangelical would be "honest love and concern." Too often, evangelicals simply try to tell me what I believe or don't believe, which is often wrong. When they tell me they're doing it out of love, it comes off as terribly hypocritical because they didn't even take the time to find out what I believe before telling me that I'm wrong.
Brian, thanks for your comment and your thoughts. I am intrigued as to what survey you wrote about and if you can reference it in a website or such please do. For the Mormons that I have talked with, they were discouraged from reading the bible, let alone study it. The times I tried to get into a conversation about the bible they always back-peddled out of it. I can understand why because your religion teaches that you believe the bible as much as it’s translated correctly. How does a person know what is truth apart from error, and if the Book of Mormon is considered by LDS as the most correct book on earth, why read anything else. From my perspective and experience you and I are the exception and not the rule. When I was leaving Catholicism I considered becoming LDS and looked into it in more depth. I was approached by missionaries, read the BOM, studied with them, and even bought a quad. Most evangelicals wouldn’t dare read it. Also keep in mind that those who may say they are evangelicals may not be, so be wary of stats that lump us all in the same category (just saying). This month I am taking a trip to Salt Lake to get a better perspective on your religion, and hope to engage in conversations as well. I’m sorry if I came off as insincere or hypocritical, and will change some wording in the blog to express my true concern for the Mormon people. By the way I looked at your blog and you have a beautiful family. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I am hoping someday heavenly father will bless me with a son or daughter as well. It’s been a long time and I’m starting to give up hope.

I have no idea where you were told that Mormons are "discouraged from reading the bible, let alone study it." Such is the exact opposite of what Mormons believe and teach. Many Mormon teenagers go to four years of "seminary" during high school, devoting a full year to the Book of Mormon, one to LDS history, and one to each of the Old and New Testaments. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, adults also study those four topics on a four-year rotation.
In other words, I think you were misinformed if you think Mormons don't actively read and study the Bible.
